About Us
RxLaboratorio is an anational nonprofit association founded in France.
Our goal is to share and promote free and open source software, resources and ideas for motion pictures production. Through free software, sharing, teaching, helping each other, we show that another world can be built together, without mercantilism and capitalism, where emancipation and freedom of all the people come from equality, financial independence and mutual assistance, in a world respectful of nature.
We are a worldwide community of animation and motion pictures enthusiasts.
With your support, we’re building a world where free and ethical software, respectful of its natural environment, protects the freedom of its creators and users.
We value and defend openness, independence and transparency for both creators and users, in a quest for their own social, economical and artistic freedom and emancipation.
We commit to the philosophy of the Free Software Foundation, and we encourage creators to publish their tools under the GNU General Public License.

A bit of history
Everything began in 2008 when Nicolas “Duduf” Dufresne released the first version of Duik, the very first character rigging and animation add-on for After Effects, which quickly became a huge success. From the beginning, Duduf has been developing and releasing his tools under free and open source licenses.
In 2016, Duduf co-founded Rainbox Productions, a French film production cooperative which included a non-profit software development department called Rainbox Lab. It funded and ran the development and distribution of free software Duduf had been developing by then, and brought it to a bigger scale, releasing new add-ons and applications to help any kind of motion pictures production.
In 2021, the cooperative decided that this Lab. should get its independence from Rainbox Productions to continue to grow and follow its own path. RxLaboratory was born! Keeping strong links with animation and motion pictures production in general, allowing it to develop software perfectly filling the needs of artists producing beautiful films.
In 2025, RxLaboratory became the RxLaboratorio association, a non-profit independent organization owned and run democratically by its members. This evolution was thought to welcome other developers and content creators and help them share their own tools and learning resources with the community.
